About Claudia Gray

Claudia Gray is a paediatrician with subspecialist training in both allergy and pharmacology. Her basic medical training was undertaken in South Africa and the specialty training in the United Kingdom.

Currently she heads up the Kidsallergy Centre- a busy paediatric and allergy clinic in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa. She also does sessions at the Red Cross Children’s Hospital as a paediatric allergy specialist and is an Associate Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Cape Town. Claudia has served for many years on the Executive Committee of the Allergy Society of South Africa and was one of the founding Directors of the Allergy Foundation of South Africa. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. She loves to teach and regularly presents at local and international congresses, and contributes regularly to high-level paediatric and allergy journals.

Despite her love of research, Claudia’s main passion remains seeing patients and giving accurate, practical and compassionate advice. She has been blessed with four beautiful children of her own, who have taught her so much more than any formal training can!

With her background as a mother of four, an involved member of the community at large as well as a paediatrician with clinical and academic responsibilities and experience in both South Africa and the United Kingdom, Claudia feels she has a vital role to play in providing true, accurate, researched and real information about all things paediatric and parenting.

This she endeavours to fulfil via regular information on this website and also via honoring her other passion- which is writing! Claudia is starting a range of children’s books which aim to convert potentially scary experiences into happy ones, using delightful rhyming stories.
